Limestone Medical Center is looking for a fun, energetic Occupational Therapist to be part of our LMC team. We have full-time, part-time and PRN positions available.  Applicant should be licensed from an accredited college and currently possess a Texas license. We offer a great benefit package with a negotiable salary. He/She must be able to evaluate and treat inpatients/outpatients with multiple diagnosis. Must be knowledgeable with treating post-surgical patients with upper extremities issues. Applicant will need to be able to supervise two C.O.T.As. NEW GRADUATES WELCOME!

JOB SUMMARY:  Provides and directs Occupational Therapy services to patients, including evaluation, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation completion and teaching staff, patients, and appropriate caregivers.  Functions under the physician's orders.  OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Personal Job-Related Skills:  Knowledge of the use of occupational therapy equipment.  Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Licensure, Registry, or Certification:  National Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy, Current State of Texas Occupational Therapy License.
  • Experience:  Prior work experience of one year as a License Occupational Therapist preferred.
  • Technical Training:  BCLS certification.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:  Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking.  Repeated bending, stooping, and reaching.  Pushing and pulling up to 300 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.  Lifting up to 50 pounds and heavier lifting in transferring or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, performs Occupational Therapy treatments on patients.

  • Provides Occupational Therapy services to patients and initiates referrals when appropriate and in accordance with Rehabilitative Services Department procedures.
  • Conducts screening of patients per request to determine need for intervention/treatment.
  • Evaluates patients to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation, conducts specialized evaluations as indicated.
  • Determines/establishes patient-specific goal/treatment plans reviews with COTA/Rehabilitation Tech as appropriate.
  • Monitors patient's response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to achieve goals in accordance with physician orders.
  • Provides care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Assesses and interprets data on neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients' status to identify patients' requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
  • Develops appropriate home or community programs to maintain/enhance the patient's performance in their own environment.
  • Provides clinical data in a timely manner concerning safety and functional/equipment needs for discharge.
  • Reviews the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual Occupation Therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, reporting the findings to the Rehabilitation Services Manager.
  • Develops plans, evaluates, modifies, and follows up on patient therapy programs as needed in conjunction with the COTA.
  • Adapts treatment to meet the individual needs of the patient.
  • Delegates treatment to the COTA and Rehabilitation Tech in accordance with established standards of practice, department procedures and staff skill levels.
  • Supervise COTA and Rehabilitation Tech in accordance with State Practice Act guidelines.

Provides information on Occupational Therapy services

  • Participates in patient, family and staff education.
  • Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient.

Plans and organizes Occupational Therapy services

  • Establishes individual patient schedules in conjunction with patient and other team members to accommodate patient's individual schedule.
  • Develops treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
  • Organizes work area and work in progress to minimize delay, interruption and substitution to established schedules.
  • Coordinates treatment plan with COTA, Rehabilitation Tech, patient and caregivers.

Prepares and maintains records as necessary

  • Documents results of evaluation, treatment, follow-up and termination of services completely and accurately on appropriate forms.
  • Adheres to Rehabilitation Services Department procedures regarding documentation of Occupational Therapy services.
  • Records services provided on a daily basis on the progress notes.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
  • Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
  • Interacts with Medical Staff members on a continuous basis.
  • Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials.
  • Follows the safety guidelines and policies of Limestone Medical Center.
