Job Summary:
The cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes, dietary guidelines and food safety standards. This position ensures that meals are prepared in a timely manner while maintaining cleanliness, organization and a safe kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Personal Job-Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
- Experience: Previous cooking experience preferred (healthcare or institutional setting is a plus).
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices.
- Ability to follow recipes and dietary restrictions accurately.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching and walking.
- Ability to work in hot and humid kitchen conditions.
