JOB SUMMARY:
The cashier is responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service in the Hospital dining area. This position handles cash transactions, takes food orders, maintains a clean dining environment and assists with stocking and daily operations to ensure a smooth and organized workflow.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
C. Experience: Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred but not required.
D. Skills and Abilities:
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
E. Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching and walking.
- Ability to perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping.
F. Work Schedule: Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Shift work may be required (morning, evening or rotating shifts).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
A. Customer service and cash handling.
- Greet customers, patients and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Accurately take food orders and operate the cash register.
- Handle cash, credit and other forms of payment responsibly.
- Balance cash drawer and follow proper cash handling procedures.
B. Dining room maintenance.
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs and high-touch areas regularly.
- Sweep and mop dining room floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Ensure dining area remains neat, stocked and welcoming at all times.
C. Stocking and organization.
- Stock beverages, condiments, snacks and supplies as needed.
- Refill items in serving and dining areas to maintain availability.
- Assist with inventory and notify supervisor of low stock.
D. Sanitation and safety.
- Follow all food safety and infection control policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Properly use cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Follow all hospital safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
E. Teamwork and communication.
- Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate any issues, shortages or concerns promptly.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support the department.
