The department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an in-house physician and two licensed nurses. The Medical and Nursing personnel who staff in the ER has advanced training in cardiac, pediatric, and trauma life support so you get the same quality of service that you expect to receive at a bigger hospital. The difference is more personal care and usually much faster treatment. Approximately 5000 patients are cared for each year in the Emergency Room by the well-trained staff at Limestone Medical Center.
The Emergency Department of Limestone Medical Center is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Texas Department of State Health Services. This designation requires our facility to maintain specific equipment and our staff to maintain specific skills, thus ensuring quality care when it is needed most. In further pursuit of quality trauma care, Limestone Medical Center has organized a Trauma Team, composed of several different staff members who lend their expertise in a trauma situation, that is activated for all major trauma patients. This provides quality care in an organized, systematic manner by coordinating the efforts of a multi-discipline team. Nurses are encouraged to maintain certifications in advanced pediatric and cardiac life support (PALS and ACLS).
